Job Description

Search for Housing for clients
Develop relationships with Brokers, Building managements and independent landlords
Advise clients to save money, open up bank accounts, clear debt and work on credit while in shelter
Escort clients via public transportation or vehicle to view apartments or rooms
Conduct housing inspections after client is accepted for a unit ( Take photos and Videos )
Request for clients to budget to qualify for a Citypheps voucher
Aide client in opening up Public Assistance and cash assistance case
Advise client on what are the best housing options available for the client's current income.
Introduce client to the major programs that we offer which are Citypheps, SOTA, EOSD and PATHWAY TO HOME
Assist client on scheduled Housing interviews
Process all paperwork for financial housing approval
Conduct meeting with case managers to get a daily update on housing ready clients
Conduct mini classes to new clients introducing them to the programs we offer
Report to Supervisors on you're in the field duties concerning apartment inspection or new housing developments
Advise clients to apply to HHA, Housing connect or other low-income program housing
Register apartments and rooms through the city Building departments
Advise clients to search for housing on their own time and bring back contact if any to Housing specialist
Discharge client after client has successfully moved out to permanent housing
Meet with client and case manager to provide a clear-cut plan or strategy for the best housing options
Update landlords, Brokers and Management Co. Daily on the status of the clients housing packet
Report to Client/HRA to pick up checks
Send urgent emails to Client/HRS to get updates on housing packets when there is a delay on approval
Fill out ROI for clients accepted for housing
Make sure each linked client has an active phone number while client is pending housing approval on a packet
Escort client to new home.
Advise clients to work consistently and under income guidelines for certain programs to qualify.
Update and explain if client was denied, not accepted or did not qualify for a housing program or unit
Express to client how important it is to meet with your case manager for every scheduled meeting
After the client moves out, Housing specialist will continue to monitor or help client for 1 year
Attend weekly housing meetings produced by Client online / ZOOM
